Helen grew up on a sheep and beef farm west of Taupo, where a deep love for the land and a sensitivity to people’s energy first took hold.
From a young age, she sensed the vitality of those around her and held a quiet but powerful curiosity about the soul, spirit, and higher consciousness. Her early life was shaped by a connection to nature, stories of the unseen, and a compassionate desire to understand what it means to truly care for others.
After becoming a registered nurse, Helen and her husband Alex raised four children while sharemilking in South Waikato. Alongside the demands of farm life, Helen studied Natural Healing Science and in 2009 completed a Diploma in Esoteric Healing – balancing healing work, study, and family life with dedication.
Later that year, Helen’s world changed when Alex passed away suddenly. Faced with immense grief, she leaned into her spiritual practice and inner strength to support her children and rebuild a new life. Her understanding deepened during this time, shaped by personal loss and healing along with profound self-discovery.
In 2018, an overseas opportunity presented for herself and new husband George. Living in Myanmar, she volunteered with at-risk young women and worked in rural communities, gaining a deeper appreciation for resilience, generosity, gratitude and the importance of spiritual connection.
Now based in Kinloch, Helen continues her healing practice while living close to the land, tending to a native regeneration project started by her father. She believes there is deep balance to be found in both nurturing the earth and supporting others on their inner journey.
A strong daily meditation practice and a continuation of studying the writings of Alice Bailey and the Tibetan Master DK, plus a growing interest in the realm of nature spirits, Helen is passionate about guiding others to raise their consciousness, reconnect with their own soul’s wisdom which in turn flows on, to support and balance Mother Earth.
Helen is a mother of four, stepmother of three, and grandmother to ten. Her path has been one of love, loss, growth, and service – and she now shares that lived wisdom through her work at Illumelight.
